Sri Lanka Cultural Tour
The ancient cities, Sigiriya, Dambulla and Kandy for history lovers.

Sample itinerary
Follow the Ramayana story across Sri Lanka, from the ancient Munneswaram temple on the west coast to the Seetha Amman Temple in the hills and Ravana Falls near Ella. A private 6-day sample itinerary with your own vehicle and driver.
This private tour follows places associated with the Ramayana tradition in Sri Lanka. Choose the sacred sites most meaningful to your group, then agree a route and pace. Religious associations should be understood as traditions, not presented as independently verified historical events.
Meet your driver at the airport and visit Munneswaram Temple, one of the five ancient Shiva temples on the island, before travelling towards the Cultural Triangle.
Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress and visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, with time to rest in the afternoon.
Travel to Kandy for the Temple of the Tooth and a walk around the lake, with an optional cultural show in the evening.
Into the hill country: Ramboda Falls and the Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, then the Seetha Amman Temple at Sita Eliya and an evening in Nuwara Eliya.
Visit the Divurumpola Temple, where Sita is said to have proved her purity, then continue to Ella for Ravana Falls and the Ravana Cave.
Return towards Colombo with a stop at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya, linked to Vibhishana, before your flight.
Sri Lanka is central to the Ramayana epic: it is the island of Lanka, where Sita was held by King Ravana. The trail connects temples, caves, waterfalls and mountains linked to the story, spread between the west coast, the Cultural Triangle and the hill country.
Highlights include the Seetha Amman Temple near Nuwara Eliya, the only temple in the world dedicated to Sita; Ravana Falls and the cave near Ella; the Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple at Ramboda; and the Kelaniya temple near Colombo. Many travellers combine the trail with Kandy and the Dambulla Cave Temple.
We plan the route so temple visits fall at quiet times where possible, and we can arrange pooja timings and a priest's blessing at key temples on request. Dress modestly for temples: shoulders and knees covered, and shoes removed at the entrance. With more time, the trail can be extended to Trincomalee's Koneswaram Temple or combined with a beach stay.
You travel in our own air-conditioned vehicle with one driver for the whole trip, so there is no sharing with strangers and no fixed schedule. Your driver collects you from the airport or your hotel, takes you between places, waits while you visit and helps with local advice along the way.
Before you travel, we agree the route and the hotels with you, and confirm what is included in writing. During the trip, small changes such as an extra stop, a slower morning or a different restaurant are easy to make.
Our guide to the Ramayana Trail in Sri Lanka explains the story behind each stop, and the Sri Lanka Travel Guide covers visas, money and practicalities.

Tell us your must-visit temples, preferred time for worship and whether your group wants a pilgrimage-focused journey or a mixture of sacred sites and sightseeing. Not every associated location belongs in every route, especially when time is limited.
Discuss temple clothing, footwear rules, walking and accessibility needs before finalising the itinerary. If specific ceremonies or local interpretation are important, ask about arrangements and availability rather than assuming they are included.
Request a written plan naming the agreed sites, hotel nights and transport. Confirm any temple contributions, entrance charges and specialist guiding separately. Additional hill-country or coastal days can be considered once the pilgrimage route has enough time.
Meet our founder, Dewage Nishantha Kumara, and see guest photographs from our Sri Lanka journeys. The guest gallery is separate from the original traveller reviews.
Tell us when you'd like to travel and what you love, and we'll suggest a route that fits. There's no obligation.
