Ten days lets you see the classic loop of Sri Lanka at a comfortable pace: the ancient cities of the Cultural Triangle, Kandy, the tea country, Ella, a safari in Yala, and time on the south coast at Mirissa and Galle. Most places get two nights, so you can relax as well as sightsee.
It covers almost every side of the island: UNESCO-listed ruins, a sacred city, cool misty highlands, a scenic train ride where the line is running, leopards and elephants, whale-watching in season and a colonial fort town. The order follows the natural geography, so you climb into the hills and then come down to the coast.
Swap Yala for Udawalawe for a calmer elephant safari, add a day in Ella for hiking, or replace part of the south coast with the east coast in the summer months. Honeymooners often add a final night or two at a beach hotel.
You travel in our own air-conditioned vehicle with one driver for the whole trip, so there is no sharing with strangers and no fixed schedule. Your driver collects you from the airport or your hotel, takes you between places, waits while you visit and helps with local advice along the way.
Before you travel, we agree the route and the hotels with you, and confirm what is included in writing. During the trip, small changes such as an extra stop, a slower morning or a different restaurant are easy to make.
Final inclusions are confirmed in writing with your quote.
