Choosing the right coast

Sri Lanka has two beach seasons. From roughly December to April, the south and west coasts are sunny and calm, from Bentota and Hikkaduwa through Galle, Unawatuna and Mirissa to Tangalle. From around May to September, the east coast is at its best, from Trincomalee and Nilaveli to Pasikuda and Arugam Bay.

We'll suggest the right coast for your month, and beaches to match: calm bays for swimming, surf towns or quiet stretches with few people.

Combining beaches with sightseeing

Most beach holidays here include a few days of sightseeing. Popular additions are Galle Fort, a safari in Yala or Udawalawe, whale-watching from Mirissa, or a few days in the Cultural Triangle and the hill country before you reach the coast.

How private touring with us works

You travel in our own air-conditioned vehicle with one driver for the whole trip, so there is no sharing with strangers and no fixed schedule. Your driver collects you from the airport or your hotel, takes you between places, waits while you visit and helps with local advice along the way.

Before you travel, we agree the route and the hotels with you, and confirm what is included in writing. During the trip, small changes such as an extra stop, a slower morning or a different restaurant are easy to make.
