When to go
From roughly December to April, finish your honeymoon on the south or west coast. From about May to September, the east coast, around Trincomalee and Pasikuda, is the better beach choice. The Cultural Triangle and hill country work most of the year.
A sample 12-day honeymoon route
Days 1–3: Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle. Days 4–5: Kandy. Days 6–7: a tea-estate bungalow in the hills. Days 8–9: Ella and the scenic train. Days 10–12: a beach villa on the south coast, with Galle Fort and whale-watching. We'll adjust it to your dates and favourite things.
Slow down
The biggest honeymoon mistake is trying to see everything. Spend two or three nights in each place and choose character hotels. With a private driver, travel days become part of the romance, with stops at waterfalls and viewpoints whenever you like.
